Dream Home...ummm...for Trolls and Treehuggers

This low impact woodland home in Wales is the cream of the crop. The woodland home was built entirely of natural materials, and best of all - only took 4 months and $5000 to complete.

The design is ingenious, dug into a hillside for low visual impact and strong shelter. Straw bales provide super-insulation to keep the heat in. The lime plaster is breathable and low energy to manufacture. Wood-burning heater. Underground-cooled fridge. Skylight. Solar panels for electricity. Compost toilet. Spring water.

Inspired? There's plenty of DIY eco-friendly projects out there. To see how to make this home yourself, check out the plans and see how it's made.
